How To Create Your Own Natural Hair Care Products

If you want to make your hair healthier and shinier, try making your own products using all-natural ingredients. Here are some great, all natural hair care products that you can easily make at home.

Hair Cream

A natural hair cream features shea butter and natural oils that will deeply moisturize your hair. Plus, the oils contain antioxidants that will protect your hair from becoming damaged by free radicals like pollution and the sun.

To make this hair cream, combine two tablespoons of shea butter with half a tablespoon of coconut oil. Melt the mixture in the microwave for a few seconds, and then stir it. Then, add in a few drops of other natural and essential oils, including rosemary oil, jojoba oil, and sweet almond oil. Once you’re finished adding oils, stir them all together until they’re mixed well, and then transfer the hair cream to a lid with a tin. Refrigerate it over night to let the ingredients set, and afterwards, store it at room temperature.

When you use the cream, only put on a little bit at a time—using too much can make your hair look greasy. Also, don’t use the cream on wet hair—it will work much better on hair that’s just slightly damp or completely dry.

Natural Shampoo and Conditioner

You can also make shampoo and conditioner natural hair care products. To make shampoo, first fill a bottle with equal parts of unscented castile soap and distilled water. Then, add in a few drops of your favorite essential oil – rosemary, mint, and lavender oils will all work well. If you want the shampoo to be more moisturizing, you can also add honey or aloe vera. Once you’ve finished adding your ingredients, stir well.

To make a natural conditioning hair care product, first get a moisturizing base ingredient, like plain yogurt or avocado. Then, add in either olive oil or coconut oil, and, if you want, some essential oils. Stir it all together, and your conditioner will be ready to use.

Clarifying Shampoo

Clarifying shampoo can remove hair product build-up and pollutants that clog up your scalp. To make your own, mix a cup of warm water, a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, and a teaspoon of baking soda. Apply it to your hair when you’re in the shower, and let it sit for about a minute before you wash it out.  You should try to use this clarifying shampoo once or twice a month.

With a few easy-to-find ingredients, you can make your own natural hair care products. If you’re looking for ways to change up your hair care routine, try using some of these homemade products.
