How To Make The “Frizzies” Go Away. Forever!

When the frizzies attack, they take no prisoners. Your dry hair sticks out as if you’d put your finger in a light socket. Your scalp gets itchy. Attempts at combing don’t do much more than fry your head with static electricity. Is it any wonder they call it, “Having a bad hair day?” We bet you call it something much worse! And who can blame you? Dry hair can make you look miserable, and feel even worse. Just imagine what it would be like to have luscious, lustrous, full-bodied, bouncy, and dare we say it … sexy hair! Well you can. We have come up with a list of ways you can get your hair back on track. We’re not talking rocket science here, ladies. Just plain old common sense.

Change your daily bad habits

  • Don’t over wash your hair. You’ll lose precious fluids that keep your hair in balance.
  • When you rinse your hair use warm (not hot!) water. Hot water is for cooking lobsters. not hair!
  • Reduce (really reduce) your reliance on blow dryers, curling/flat irons, and overheated styling tools. In essence, these appliances “cook” your hair. That’s a no-no.
  • If excessive sun and wind exposure can give you skin cancer, what do you think it will do to your hair? No, your hair won’t get cancer, but it probably will look like a hay field at the end of August when it hasn’t gotten any rain for a couple of months.
  • Harsh chemicals are for cleaning rust off of your 12-year old car, not for using on your hair. Don’t you use them, and make sure your salon doesn’t use them either!
  • Stay away from cheap brushes. They contribute to split ends and breakage.

Adopt new, hair healthy habits

  • To avoid breaking and split ends, use a wide tooth comb.
  • Trim your hair regularly to avoid split ends.
  • Like to swim? Then use a bathing cap! Chlorine in pools can really damage your hair. And salt water can clot hair and make it difficult to manage.
  • It goes without saying that if you spend a lot of time in the great outdoors (or just doing errands!) you should wear some kind of a cover up. When in doubt, a baseball cap will work nicely. Looks kinda cute, too!
  • Use low impact, chemically safe products on your hair like Keranique – shampoo, conditioner and the like. And wash your hair gently! Gently treated hair will respond with body and luster.
  • Check your diet. If the foods you eat are not particularly good for your body, they certainly won’t be good for your hair. A balanced diet, with the requisite vitamins, proteins, and nutrients can do wonders for the health of your hair!

See how simple it is to get rid of the “frizzies”?

Treat your hair right, and your hair will return the favor. Just follow these simple suggestions and within a few weeks, you’ll see a big difference. It’s all up to you!
